– 2 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 cup granulated sugar
– 1 cup buttermilk
– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
– 1/4 cup vegetable oil
– 2 large eggs
– 2 tbsp black cocoa powder

– 1 tsp baking powder
– 1/2 tsp baking soda
– 1/2 tsp salt
– 1 tbsp white vinegar
– 1 tsp vanilla extract
– Black food coloring (gel or paste)

1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350Β°F (180Β°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch (23cm) round cake pans.
2. Combine dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, black cocoa powder, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. Combine wet ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together buttermilk, softened butter, vegetable oil, eggs, white vinegar, and vanilla extract.
4. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, whisking until smooth.
5. Add black food coloring: Add a few drops of black food coloring (gel or paste) to the batter and mix until the desired color is achieved.
6. Divide the batter: Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
7. Bake the cakes: Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of each cake comes out clean.
8. Cool the cakes: Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
9. Assemble and frost: Once the cakes are completely cool, you can frost and assemble the cake using your favorite frosting recipe.
