Ingredients:
4 pounds pork spareribs
½ cup honey
¼ cup soy sauce
¼ cup brown sugar (optional but adds depth)
¼ cup ketchup (for a sticky glaze)
2 tablespoons rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon ground ginger (or 1 tablespoon fresh grated)
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
2 tablespoons water (if using cornstarch)
Instructions:
1. Prep the ribs:
Cut the spareribs into individual pieces or manageable sections.
Place them in a large pot, cover with water, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes to remove excess fat and make them tender. Drain well.
2. Make the sauce:
In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, brown sugar, ketchup, vinegar, garlic, ginger, and black pepper.
3. Bake the ribs:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Arrange ribs in a single layer in a roasting pan or baking dish.
Pour the sauce over the ribs, turning to coat evenly.
Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour, turning occasionally.
4. Glaze and finish:
Remove foil and bake 30 more minutes, basting occasionally, until ribs are caramelized and sticky.
(Optional) If you like a thicker glaze, simmer the sauce with cornstarch + water mixture until thick, then brush it on at the end.
5. Serve:
Sprinkle with sesame seeds or chopped green onions for garnish.
Serve with rice or a side of steamed veggies.
