Southern Fried Shrimp

1 lb large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cornmeal
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp paprika ️
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional for spice) ️
Salt and black pepper to taste
1 cup buttermilk
Vegetable oil for frying ️

Prepare Shrimp: Rinse and pat shrimp dry. Soak in buttermilk for 15 minutes.
Mix Coating: Combine flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
Coat Shrimp: Dredge each shrimp in the flour mixture, pressing lightly to adhere.
Heat Oil: Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C).
Fry Shrimp: Fry shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
