Ingredients
For the French Fries:
4 large potatoes (russet or Yukon Gold)
3 tbsp vegetable oil
Salt, to taste
½ tsp smoked paprika (optional, for seasoning)
For the Sausages:
1 lb (450 g) cocktail sausages or small hot dogs
1 tsp garlic powder
½ tsp chili powder (optional, for spice)
1 tbsp vegetable oil
Optional Garnishes:
Additional paprika or seasoning blend
Chopped parsley
Instructions
Prepare the Potatoes:
Peel the potatoes (optional) and cut them into thin strips for fries.
Rinse the cut potatoes under cold water to remove excess starch. Pat them dry with paper towels.
Cook the French Fries:
Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
Fry the potatoes in batches for 5-6 minutes, or until lightly golden. Remove and let them cool on a paper towel-lined plate.
Increase the oil temperature to 375°F (190°C) and fry the potatoes again for 2-3 minutes, or until crispy and golden brown.
Sprinkle with salt and paprika while still warm.
Prepare the Sausages:
Slice small slits into the sausages (to help them cook evenly and create a decorative look).
Heat a skillet over medium heat with 1 tbsp of oil.
Toss the sausages with garlic powder and chili powder (if using) and cook them in the skillet, stirring occasionally, until browned and slightly crispy (about 5-7 minutes).
Assemble the Dish:
Arrange the fries on a serving plate.
Top with the grilled sausages.
Optionally sprinkle with additional paprika or parsley.
Serve:
Serve immediately as a snack or meal with ketchup, mustard, or your favorite dipping sauce.
