Pepper Barbecue Sloppy Joes

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ingredients:

โ€“ 1 lb ground beef
โ€“ 1 small onion, chopped
โ€“ 2 cloves garlic, minced
โ€“ 1 can (12 oz) Dr. Pepper soda
โ€“ 1 cup barbecue sauce
โ€“ 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
โ€“ 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
โ€“ 1 tablespoon brown sugar
โ€“ 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
โ€“ 1/2 teaspoon salt
โ€“ 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
โ€“ 4 hamburger buns
โ€“ Pickles, for garnish (optional)

 

Directions:

1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
2. Add the chopped onion and garlic to the skillet, and sautรฉ for 2-3 minutes until softened.
3. Pour in the Dr. Pepper, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
4. Bring the mixture to a simmer, and cook for 10-15 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and the flavors have melded together.
5. Toast the hamburger buns in the oven or on a skillet until golden brown.
6. Spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto the bottom half of each toasted bun. Top with pickles, if desired.
7. Place the top half of the bun on each sandwich and serve.
