Pepper Barbecue Sloppy Joes โ€“ a sweet and savory twist!

 

 

Ingredients:


โ€“ 1 lb ground beef
โ€“ 1 small onion, diced
โ€“ 1 small green bell pepper, diced
โ€“ 1 cup Dr. Pepper soda
โ€“ 1/2 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite kind)
โ€“ 1/4 cup ketchup
โ€“ 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
โ€“ 1 tablespoon brown sugar
โ€“ 1 teaspoon garlic powder
โ€“ 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
โ€“ 1/2 teaspoon salt
โ€“ 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
โ€“ 6 hamburger buns

 

Directions:

Cook the Ground Beef:
In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Break up the meat with a spoon as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.

Add Vegetables:
Add the diced onion and bell pepper to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes, until they soften.

Make the Sauce:
Stir in the Dr. Pepper, barbecue sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

Simmer the Sloppy Joes:
Reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and coats the beef.

Assemble the Sloppy Joes:
Spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto hamburger buns. Serve warm and enjoy!
