Ingredients:
For the Steak:
β 2 ribeye or filet mignon steaks (about 1-inch thick)
β Salt and pepper, to taste
β 1 tbsp olive oil
β 1 tbsp butter
For the Mushroom Sauce:
β 2 tbsp butter
β 2 cups sliced mushrooms (cremini or button)
β 1 clove garlic, minced
β 1/2 cup beef broth
β 1/4 cup heavy cream
β Salt and pepper, to taste
β Fresh chives, chopped (for garnish)
For the Mashed Potatoes:
β 4 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
β 1/2 cup milk
β 3 tbsp butter
β Salt and pepper, to taste
Directions:
1. Prepare the Mashed Potatoes:
β In a large pot, boil the potatoes until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and mash with milk, butter, salt, and pepper until creamy. Set aside and keep warm.
2. Cook the Steaks:
β Season both sides of the steaks with salt and pepper.
β In a skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil and butter. Sear the steaks for 3-4 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Remove steaks from the skillet and let them rest.
3. Make the Mushroom Sauce:
β In the same skillet, add butter and sliced mushrooms. Cook until mushrooms are golden and softened, about 5 minutes.
β Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute.
β Pour in the beef broth and let it simmer until reduced slightly.
β Stir in the heavy cream, season with salt and pepper, and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
4. Assemble:
β Plate the mashed potatoes, place the steak on top, and spoon the mushroom sauce over the steak.
β Garnish with fresh chopped chives and serve immediately.
Enjoy this comforting and elegant meal!
