Canned Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients

12 oz (340 g) fresh or frozen cranberries

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup water

1/4 tsp salt

Optional: 1/2 tsp orange zest or a splash of orange juice

Instructions

In a saucepan, bring the water and sugar to a boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves.

Add the cranberries and salt. Reduce heat to medium and simmer 10–15 minutes until the berries burst and the sauce thickens.

If using, stir in orange zest or juice for extra flavor.

Pour the hot mixture into a bowl or a clean can-shaped container. Let it cool, then refrigerate until fully set.

To serve, slide it out and slice into rounds just like the classic canned style—great next to roasted turkey, chicken, or even on a sandwich for a sweet-tart bite.
