Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup milk
1 egg
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon mustard powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons olive oil
For the Mushroom Gravy:
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup sliced mushrooms
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups beef broth
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, mustard powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined and shape into 4 oval patties.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties until browned on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove the patties and set aside.
In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms, chopped onion, and minced garlic. Cook until the mushrooms are browned and the onion is tender, about 5-7 minutes.
Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute, then gradually whisk in the beef broth. Add the Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook until the gravy thickens, about 5 minutes.
Return the patties to the skillet, spooning the gravy over them. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the patties are cooked through.
Serve the Salisbury steaks with the mushroom gravy spooned over the top.
