Ingredients
Serves 4โ6
For the Pasta:
8 oz pasta (elbow macaroni, shells, or penne work well)
1 tbsp olive oil
1 lb ground beef (or turkey for a lighter option)
1 small onion , finely chopped
2 cloves garlic , minced
1 cup ketchup
1/4 cup yellow mustard
2 tbsp brown sugar (adjust to taste)
1 tsp smoked paprika
1/2 tsp garlic powder
Salt and pepper , to taste
For the Cheesy Topping:
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
Step 1: Cook the Pasta
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Step 2: Brown the Beef
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon (about 6โ8 minutes). Drain excess grease if needed.
Step 3: Add Aromatics & Sauce
Stir in the chopped onion and cook for 3โ4 minutes, until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant.
Stir in the ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
Step 4: Combine with Pasta
Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the beef mixture. Stir until the pasta is evenly coated in the sauce.
Step 5: Add the Cheese
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses evenly over the top of the pasta. Cover the skillet and let it sit for 2โ3 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Step 6: Serve
Top with optional garnishes like diced pickles, sliced green onions, or crushed potato chips for added texture and flavor. Serve warm and enjoy!
