1 box chocolate cake mix
1 cup evaporated milk
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1/4 cup water
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 cups chopped pecans
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
3/4 cup caramel sauce

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to the package instructions using the 1/4 cup of water, and pour half of the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 15 minutes.
While the cake is baking, combine the evaporated milk, butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil and stir constantly for 1 minute before removing from heat. Stir in the chopped pecans and vanilla extract.
After the cake has baked for 15 minutes, remove it from the oven and pour the caramel pecan mixture over the top. Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the caramel layer.
Pour the remaining cake batter over the top and return to the oven. Bake for an additional 25-30 minutes or until the cake is set.
Allow the cake to cool before drizzling with caramel sauce and serving.
