4 slices American cheese

4 slices Swiss cheese

4 slices Texas toast

Cook patties in a hot skillet for about 3-4 minutes per side until browned and cooked through.

Place a slice of American cheese on each patty to melt.

4. Assemble the sandwich:

On 2 slices of Texas toast, layer: patty with melted American cheese, caramelized onions, and a slice of Swiss cheese. Top with remaining toast slices.

5. Grill the sandwich:

Butter the outside of each sandwich.

Grill on a skillet or griddle until the bread is golden and crispy and the cheese is melted, about 2-3 minutes per side.
