Honey Garlic Steak & Shrimp over Yellow Rice

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ingredients:


For the Steak & Shrimp:
โ€“ 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
โ€“ 1/2 lb sirloin or ribeye steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
โ€“ 2 tbsp olive oil (divided)
โ€“ 2 tbsp honey
โ€“ 1 tbsp soy sauce
โ€“ 3 cloves garlic, minced
โ€“ 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
โ€“ Salt and freshly cracked black pepper (to taste)
For the Vegetables:
โ€“ 1 small onion, chopped
โ€“ 1/2 green bell pepper, chopped
โ€“ 1 tbsp olive oil
โ€“ Salt and pepper (to taste)
For the Yellow Rice:
โ€“ 1 cup long-grain white rice
โ€“ 1 3/4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
โ€“ 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
โ€“ 1/4 tsp cumin powder
โ€“ 1 tbsp olive oil
โ€“ Salt (to taste)

Instructions:

โ€“ Heat 1 tosp olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat.

โ€“ Stir in the rice, turmeric, cumin, and a pinch of salt. Toast the rice for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
โ€“ Add the broth, bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and cook for 15-20 minutes until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
โ€“ Fluff with a fork and keep warm.

โ€“ In a large skillet, heat 1 tosp olive oil over medium-high heat.
โ€“ Add the onion and bell pepper. Sautรฉ for 4-5 minutes until softened and slightly charred. Remove and set aside.

โ€“ Season the steak pieces with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.
โ€“ Heat 1 tosp olive oil in the skillet over high heat. Add the steak and sear for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove and set aside.

โ€“ In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium.
โ€“ Add the shrimp and cook for 2 minutes per side until pink and cooked through.
โ€“ Add minced garlic, honey, and soy sauce to the skillet, tossing the shrimp to coat in the sticky sauce. Let it caramelize for 1 minute.

โ€“ Return the cooked steak and vegetables to the skillet with the shrimp.
โ€“ Toss everything in the honey garlic sauce until well combined and evenly coated.

โ€“ Plate the yellow rice as the base.
โ€“ Top with the steak, shrimp, and vegetables.
โ€“ Drizzle any remaining sauce from the skillet over the dish for extra flavor.
