Honey-Glazed Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Bacon

ingredients:

For the Brussels Sprouts:
1 pound Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon honey
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
For the Bacon:
4 strips of bacon, chopped
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar (optional, for added depth of flavor)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional, for extra savoriness)

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). This high temperature is ideal for getting the Brussels sprouts crispy and caramelized.
2. Prepare the Brussels Sprouts:
Trim the ends of the Brussels sprouts and remove any yellow or damaged outer leaves. Cut them in half lengthwise to ensure even cooking.
3. Toss with Olive Oil and Seasoning:
In a large mixing bowl, toss the Brussels sprouts with olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Make sure they are evenly coated to ensure they roast properly.
4. Arrange on a Baking Sheet:
Spread the Brussels sprouts out on a large baking sheet in a single layer. Make sure they have enough space to roast rather than steam.
5. Add the Bacon:
Scatter the chopped bacon over the Brussels sprouts. The bacon will release fat as it cooks, which will enhance the flavor and help crisp up the sprouts.
6. Roast:
Roast in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, stirring halfway through to ensure even cooking.
7. Add Honey:
Drizzle the honey over the Brussels sprouts and bacon during the last 5–7 minutes of roasting. Return to the oven and roast until the Brussels sprouts are caramelized and the bacon is crispy.
8. Finish with Balsamic Vinegar (Optional):
If you’re using balsamic vinegar, drizzle it over the sprouts right after taking them out of the oven. It adds a tangy sweetness that complements the honey glaze beautifully.
9. Serve:
Transfer the roasted Brussels sprouts and bacon to a serving dish. Serve immediately while warm and crispy
