Ingredients
Burger buns: 4 buns (brioche or classic)
Ground meat: 500g (beef, veal, or a mix)
Pepperoni slices: about 20
Grated mozzarella cheese: 150g
Cheese (cheddar or Emmental): 4 slices
Tomato sauce: 4 tbsp (pizza style, lightly seasoned)
Dried oregano: 1 tsp
Salt, pepper, olive oil
Butter: for toasting the buns
Preparation
Prepare the burgers
Season the meat with salt, pepper, and a little oregano and form into 4 burgers.
Cook in a hot pan with a drizzle of olive oil for about 3-4 minutes per side (or to your liking).
Add a slice of cheese to each steak at the end of cooking so it melts well.
Toast the buns
Cut the buns in half and brown them in a pan with a little butter, crumb side down.
Pizza-style assembly
Spread 1 tablespoon of tomato sauce over the bun base.
Add a generous sprinkle of shredded mozzarella.
Place the steak with its melted cheese.
Add 5 slices of pepperoni (you can grill them a little in the pan for even more flavor).
Add a little more mozzarella on top if you like a cheese overload
Finish with a little oregano.
Close with the bun top.
Grilled option (optional, but oh well)
Broil the burgers for 2-3 minutes to melt and brown the cheese on top of the pepperoni
