Ingredients
1/2 pound (about 225g) raw shrimp, peeled & deveined
1/4 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
1 egg
1 green onion, finely chopped
1 garlic clove, minced
1 tablespoon mayonnaise (or Greek yogurt)
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
Salt & pepper, to taste
1 tablespoon lemon juice or zest
Oil for cooking (olive or neutral oil)
Optional add-ins:
1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika or cayenne for heat
Fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped
Instructions
1. Chop the Shrimp
Roughly chop half of the shrimp into small chunks.
Place the other half into a food processor and pulse until it forms a paste. This helps bind the burger without needing a lot of flour or filler.
2. Mix the Patty Mixture
In a bowl, combine the chopped shrimp, shrimp paste, breadcrumbs, egg, green onion, garlic, mayo, mustard, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
The mixture will be slightly sticky — that’s normal.
3. Form Patties
Divide the mixture into 2–3 patties. Refrigerate for 10–15 minutes to help them firm up (optional but helpful).
4. Cook the Burgers
Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Cook the shrimp patties for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and fully cooked through (shrimp should be opaque and firm).
5. Serve
Serve on a toasted bun with toppings like lettuce, tomato, avocado, slaw, or a spicy mayo.
Or go bun-less and serve in a lettuce wrap or over a salad for a lighter option.
