The Bold and Tangy Georgia Mustard Barbecue Sauce

1 cup yellow mustard
½ cup brown sugar, firmly packed
¼ cup apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon celery seed
1 teaspoon Tabasco

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine mustard, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, butter, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, celery seed, and Tabasco.
Stir well to blend all ingredients.
Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Let it cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Once the sauce thickens slightly, remove it from heat and let it cool.
Use the sauce immediately or store it in an airtight container for later use.
Notes
For a sweeter sauce, add an extra tablespoon of brown sugar or a drizzle of honey.
To increase spiciness, add more Tabasco or a pinch of cayenne pepper.
This sauce stores well in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks in an airtight container.
For longer storage, freeze for up to 3 months and thaw before use.
