Salisbury Steak with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Mushroom & Onion Gravy

For the Salisbury Steak:

1 1/2 pounds ground beef

1/3 cup breadcrumbs

1 egg, beaten

2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon garlic powder

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Garlic Mashed Potatoes:

2 pounds potatoes, peeled and quartered

4 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 cup milk

2 tablespoons butter

Salt and pepper to taste

For the Mushroom & Onion Gravy:

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 onion, thinly sliced

8 ounces mushrooms, sliced

2 cups beef broth

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

2 tablespoons flour

Salt and pepper to taste

Salisbury Steak:

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well and form into 4 oval patties.

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add patties and cook until browned on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove from skillet and set aside.

Garlic Mashed Potatoes:

  1. Place potatoes in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 20 minutes. Add garlic to the pot in the last 5 minutes of cooking.

Drain potatoes and garlic, then return to the pot. Add milk, butter, salt, and pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.

Mushroom & Onion Gravy:

  1. In the same skillet used for the patties, add additional olive oil if needed. Add onion and mushrooms and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and onions, stirring to coat. Gradually add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring constantly. Cook until the gravy has thickened, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

Return the Salisbury steaks to the skillet, spooning the gravy over the top. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes to reheat the steaks.

Serve the Salisbury steaks with a generous helping of garlic mashed potatoes and top with the mushroom and onion gravy.
